# $OVL3 Staking

Staking is an entirely on-chain activity that allows you to earn rewards over time by holding on to your $OVL3.

You earn rewards while your $OVL3 is "staked" because of a "consensus mechanism" called Proof of Stake, which allows the blockchain to put your token to work. This mechanism ensures that all transactions are verified and secured without a bank or payment processor. If you choose to stake your token, it becomes part of the process. 

APR is dynamic and will vary depending on the total number of participants and the volume of $OVL3 staked. The capacity of the pools and the number of $OVL3 tokens to be won will increase every quarter.

There are 2 different pools: **Open** and **Locked**. 

#### Open Staking

Here are the key details for the open staking:

* Lock: There is no-lock. 
* Duration: The open staking lasts for 1 year. 
* Max. capacity: The max capacity of the pool for the first quarter is 9,413,475 $OVL3 tokens. 
* Min. deposit: 10 $OVL3 tokens
* Max. deposit: No maximum 
* Investment withdrawal: you can withdraw at anytime 
* Interest Claim: at any time every minute 
* Min APR: 10.85% (if the pool is full) 
* Current APR: 118% APR
* Max APR: 10355050% (if only 10 tokens are stacked in the pool over a year) 
* Tokens to be won daily for the first quarter: 2,837 $OVL3 (up to 14,577 in the fourth quarter 
* Total Tokens to be won: 5,250,000 $OVL3 

#### Locked Staking

Here are the key details of the locked staking:

* Lock: 6-month locked
* Duration: The locked staking lasts for 2 periods of 6 months 
* Max capacity of the pool for the 1st quarter: 6,275,650 $OVL3 tokens
* Min deposit: at least 10 $OVL3 tokens
* Max deposit: none
* Investment withdrawal: Funds are locked for 6 months
* Interest claim: at any time every minute
* Min APR: 30% (if the pool is full)
* Current APR: 465% APR
* Max APR: 18826700% (if only 10 tokens are stacked in the pool over a year)
* Tokens to be won daily for the 1st quarter: 5,158 $OVL3 (up to 19,532 on the 4th quarter)
* Total tokens to be won: 9,750,000 $OVL3

#### Example:

If you stack 100,000 $OVL3 on 1st January in the open pool and the pool is 5% full (470,674 tokens stacked). 

You will earn 603 tokens per day, which is 21% (100,000/470,674) of the 2,837 $OVL3 daily tokens to be won. 

If the pool stays like this, and you withdraw it after 3 months, you will have won 54,873 tokens in 3 months. This represents a 220% APR.
